Since the 1980s, Fractal theory has developed and is being used by some physicists to explain the nature of the universe and by some astrologers to explain the Hermetic Principle in more mathematically precise terms. Since a fractal is a precise mathematical function that maintains its proportionality when calculated on different scales, astrologers have embraced it to explain secondary progressions, solar arc directions, and other progressions rates such as quarterly progressions as well as an array of other progression and solar arc rates.

Although these astrologers have embraced the flexibility and the mathematical precision of fractal theory, they have failed to realize that the standard methods traditionally used by astrologers to calculate secondary progressions and solar arc directions have a small error built into them which makes them increasingly inaccurate the older the person becomes. These errors have serious implication for rectification and electional astrology.

Before the promise of fractal progressions and directions can be realized, these long-hidden errors in calculating progressions and directions must be identified, the default settings in astrological software must be corrected, and the curriculum in astrological schools must be revised.

During his presentation, He will show you how to calculate Secondary and Solar Arc Directions correctly and point out why the traditional method is incorrect and describe the magnitude of the error. The correct calculation options will be identified in popular astrological software such as Sirius, Solar Fire, Kepler 8, and Janus. A method will also be given to correct the error when your software only uses the traditional method.

In addition, methods for calculating other fractal progressions, for example quarterly progressions will be provided.

She’s a certified graduate and teacher through the Canadian Astrological Association for Education (CAAE), a former CAAE board member, and has lectured across Canada and the U.S. Her approach to astrology is a blend of modern Western techniques, traditional techniques, and a heavy dose of 17th century astrology based on the methods of Jean Baptiste Morin de Villefranche. She also believes strongly in chart rectification and puts a lot of time (and heart) into her clients to ensure their birth times are bang on. A former college writing teacher, career advice writer, communications specialist and singer-songwriter, Melanie hold a Master’s degree in Professional Writing and Communications. Her latest astrological adventure is founding and leading a local astrology group in southern Ontario, Canada—Astrology Niagara.
