Program Details

There are three award categories and two special allocations for our scholarships and grants. Each award amount is up to $500.

Award Categories

Education

The Chris McRae Astrological Education Scholarships honor the dedication and love that ISAR Board Emerita Chris McRae had for astrological education. Awardees will be given financial support to attend both ISAR-affiliated and non-affiliated schools, in-person or virtual. Four awards for ISAR-affiliated schools and four awards for schools not affiliated with ISAR.

Conferences

Conference scholarships give financial support to those wishing to attend both ISAR and non-ISAR conferences, in-person or virtual. Two awards to attend the ISAR 2022 conference and two awards to attend a conference of your choice.

Project Grants

Grants for Projects will give financial support to those needing seed money for a new initiative or to help fund ongoing projects. Two awards.

Special Allocations

Diversity Participation

ISAR is committed to honoring diversity within our astrological community by respecting and appreciating what makes each of us different in terms of race, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual identity, gender identity and national origin. We also recognize that these differences have come with a history of exclusion for some, so ISAR is also committed to fostering actions that create inclusion for those who have been ostracized for these differences. Our diversity initiative is such an action. Three awardees will be able to choose from one of the three categories above.

Intercontinental Participation

As a US-based organization with an international mission, ISAR seeks to honor and foster global participation by offering non-US-based astrologers specially allocated awards. Three awardees will be able to choose from one of the three categories above.

Application and Selection Process

  • You can apply to more than one award category, but you can only be awarded one. If you won during the previous year, you may not apply again.
  • Scholarships/grants will be awarded based on need, although you will also have to show that you meet specific criteria of involvement in astrology. On the online application form, to demonstrate need, you will only have to check a box that confirms you agree that, in good faith, you are in financial need. We are relying on this honor system rather than asking you to go through the process of writing a short essay about your financial difficulties.
  • If you win an award, you will need to write an article for ISAR’s journal or website describing how the award benefited you and/or agree to make a short video that can be used for online promotions. You will also need to agree to send ISAR a hi-resolution color photo and write a short 100-word description of who you are and your involvement in astrology. It will be posted to the community when the winners are announced.
  • For each category, winners will be randomly drawn from a pool of qualified applicants. All scholarship awards must be used by December 31, 2022.
