Modern astrologers tend to favour quadrant house systems, where each of the four angles begins one of the four angular houses. But the two oldest systems of house division (Equal and Whole Sign) calculate charts with an MC–IC axis that ‘floats’, and the Equal house method highlights another axis – the zenith (or nonagesimal) and the nadir – that is directly square to the Ascendant–Descendant. Frank Clifford has been studying astrology and palmistry for over thirty years and works to make both subjects accessible and fun to learn. Frank has shared his research into the MC–IC in a mini-book called The Midheaven: Spotlight on Success.
