Declination is a powerful astrological technique which uses planets distance from the celestial equator rather than the ecliptic. Far from being a modern innovation  an awareness of declination was pivotal to the sky watchers of  many ancient civilisations.  Using chart examples we will examine the ancient concept of antiscia, and the unique declination relationship between planets known as the  parallel and contra-parallel.  We will also explore the concept of out of bounds where planets that fall outside the declination limits of the Sun gain a heightened prominence and unpredictability.
